JOB TITLE: Sr. Reliability - Mechanical Engineer, P.E.
NorthStar Energy Services is seeking an experienced, skilled, and enthusiastic Engineer to join the NSES Professional Engineering Consulting team.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineer for this position will be responsible for the development of mechanical design parameters including design concept, engineering criteria, equipment specifications, equipment selections, code interpretations and analysis pertaining to the design of Energy Facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ENGINEERING
- Employ the following codes/standards:

- ASME BPVC-VII Pressure Vessel
- API 620, API 650, API 12C Tank Design
- Piping Design Systems, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8
- API 610 Pumps, Centrifugal pumps (1hp to 10,000 hp)
- API 674/675/676, Positive Displacement Pumps
- API 682, Shaft Sealing Systems for Centrifugal and Rotary Pumps
- Mechanical Seal Design Systems
- API 520/521 Pressure Relief Devices
- ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8
- Produce equipment specifications based on project specific design constraints for rotating and fixed equipment, including:
- Pressure Vessels, Drums, and Tanks
- Filters, Mixers, Strainers
- Separators
- Pumps
- Compressors
- Turbines
- Conduct risk management analysis (vibration analysis, lubrication oil analysis, corrosion monitoring, strain mitigation, etc.), provide mitigation techniques, and implement changes into broader project design.
- Develop piping arrangements and conduct necessary stress and strain analysis of pipeline facilities including traps, regulator stations, measurement stations, and main-line block valve sites
- Conduct line sizing calculations, pipe support load analysis, and nozzle load stress (static and dynamic) evaluations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Apply standard manufacturing methods (machining, grinding, welding etc.), materials engineering, and metallurgy
- Review project PPFDs and P&IDs
- Develop equipment and piping layouts for Compressor Stations, Pump Station, Tank Terminals, and Truck Loading Facilities.
- Develop and maintain standardized internal procedures/methods/calculations for hot taps, stopples, etc.
- DELIVERABLE MANAGEMENT
- Research, review, and integrate Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes as it pertains to project deliverables
- Review site-specific geotechnical reports for purposes of site development
- Perform independent QA/QC of drawing deliverables
- Coordinate and communicate project-specific mechanical deliverables with team members across all engineering disciplines
- Review other discipline deliverables to ensure mechanical design is properly executed and aligns with project objectives
- Perform field related work to obtain design pertinent information as needed
- Review and respond to project RFI's throughout project-life
- Review third-party vendor drawings to ensure compatibility with intended mechanical design

- EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in the following software/programs:
- CAESAR II
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in midstream energy and/or petrochemical sector
