What you will bring to the table:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher education in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Consulting HVAC Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain) in the state of Texas.
- Ability to design complex HVAC systems with high standard of quality.
- Proficient in design of many HVAC systems, such as VAV systems, DOAS systems, VRF systems, Data Room Cooling systems and Package rooftop systems.
- Proficient in design of Chilled Water-Cooling and Hydronic Heating systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Heating/Cooling load and Ventilation calculations
- Advanced knowledge of hydronic pipe sizing, pump selection, duct sizing and fan selection
- Working knowledge of plumbing systems, such as domestic hot & cold-water systems and waste and vent systems
- Proficient in application of Mechanical Building Codes
- Advanced understanding of digital temperature control systems, development of control strategies, drawings, and sequences of operation
- Proficient at writing specifications for mechanical projects
- Ability to collaborate with peers and lead a team of engineers and drafters to produce high quality construction documents.
- Ability to provide a high level of client service.

As a Team Member at Cushing Terrell, you will…
- Have proficiency in a variety of software applications to include: Microsoft Office 365, BlueBeam, and relevant HVAC software.
- Have a desire to expand our integrated A/E business model and the expertise of our team.
- Develop initial HVAC design concepts with or without collaboration of other engineers
- Consult with client to determine needs, wants, and designs systems to meet predetermined budgets
- Conduct site assessments, and analysis to produce building engineering reports and recommendations for improvement of building HVAC and plumbing systems
- Produce energy conservation recommendations, potential energy savings of conservation measures and construction cost to implement measure
- Provide Quality Control reviews of mechanical designs and provide constructive feedback
- Act as Engineer in Responsible Charge, including making technical decisions in their field, reviewing, stamping, and signing Construction Documents.
The majority of the time a person in this role will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements. This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist and reach. On occasion individuals will be required to visit a client site to perform site verifications and field surveys.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position $113,000 to $160,000 and is based on Austin, Texas. If you are a candidate living outside of (this region/these regions), we still encourage you to apply as salary ranges may differ across states/cities/job markets.
Actual pay will be determined based on your years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). The position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
