Senior Mechanical Engineer

Role:

Northwood Space is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in our El Segundo office. This person is responsible for supporting the power, timing, and RF systems that will be required for our gateway products. They will ensure that our products are easily deployable and able to withstand the environmental conditions in which their placed.

Responsibilities:

• Drive system-level design of structure and electronics packaging for ground-based SATCOM antenna.

• Own the mechanical design of mechanical components from analysis and design to manufacture, test, installation, and operation.

• Rapid prototyping and iteration of mechanical components to meet overall system requirements.

• Optimize mechanical components for assembly, integration, and manufacture

• Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team to ensure smooth integration of the overall system.

• Work with suppliers to ensure components are optimized for performance and cost.

• Assess system performance and environmental effects in-the-field and incorporate analysis into system improvements.

Experience:

• Experience in mechanical design and analysis including RF/Microwave electronics packaging

• Knowledge of PCB assembly processes and best practices, SMT failure analysis, RF isolation techniques desired.

• Experience with CAD and simulation software

• Strong thermal and structural analysis of PCBs

• Environmental test methods and equipment.

• Solid understanding of GD&T and assembly design.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation is determined by role, level, location. and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a base-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, and technical capabilities.
