The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in optimizing our manufacturing processes by evaluating part drawings for manufacturability, developing and updating build instructions, and working closely with vendors to enhance manufacturing efficiency. This role demands a deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and a minimum of 10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
· Part Drawing Analysis: Review and analyze part drawings and designs to assess manufacturability. Collaborate with design engineers to provide feedback and recommendations for design improvements that simplify manufacturing processes.
· Build Instruction Development: Create, review, and update detailed build instructions for manufacturing processes, ensuring they are clear, accurate, and optimized for efficiency and quality.
· Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve manufacturing processes, with a focus on reducing costs and enhancing product quality. Implement best practices and innovative solutions.
· Vendor Collaboration: Work closely with external vendors and suppliers to enhance manufacturing processes, improve component quality, and reduce lead times. Establish strong vendor relationships to drive continuous improvement.
· Non-Conformance Management: Lead the management of non-conformance requests within the engineering department, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
· GD&T Expertise: Serve as an in-house expert in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles, providing guidance to internal teams and collaborating with external stakeholders on GD&T-related matters.
· Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of process changes, improvements, and non-conformance resolutions. Generate reports and documentation as required.
· Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality assurance, and production, to ensure seamless integration of design and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
· Minimum of 10 years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
· Proficiency in GD&T and experience with CAD software.
· Stong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
· Project management experience is a plus.
· Knowledge of (industry-specific regulations, standards, or tools) is preferred.
