Job description

The Maintenance Engineer must possess the desire and ability to maintain all plant equipment.  As a member of the Lynden team the Maintenance Engineer will be a partner in the Operations Division. The Maintenance Mechanic’s role is to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all plant equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic’s role is to ensure successful maintenance and repair of plant machinery and supporting special projects within the plant. This role is represented by a bargaining agreement, which will require union membership.  This is an overnight shift after training. 

 What you will do:
    • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
    • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
    • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
    • Proficient in process instrumentation including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and calibration
    • Read, understand and troubleshoot using electrical schematics
    • General electrical troubleshooting of 24v, 110v, 220v and 480v systems
    • Understand the theory behind process flow
What you will bring:
  • Experience maintaining boilers, air compressors, condensers, glycol systems, cooling towers, and wastewater
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical motors and controls (VFD experience a must)
  • Experience troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical systems – Fans, conveyors, gearboxes, etc.
  • Experience troubleshooting fluid process equipment including pumps, valves, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics and equipment manuals
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. routinely / frequently and be able to sit, stand or climb or walk for 12 hrs
  • Understanding and experience of preventive maintenance. Experience with CMMS programs preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and maintain equipment and records
  • Strong team/verbal/written skills are required. Demonstrated ability to be a Team Player
  • Must be available to work any shift including nights, weekends, holidays.

What you will need:

  • Familiarity with MS Office suite and applications, ability to utilize electronic communication effectively
  • 3-5 years of Manufacturing Maintenance, millwright, or other closely related experience
  • 3+ years of mechanical/electrical maintenance, OR instrumentation certification
  • Experience troubleshooting: PLC’s, controls instrumentation and panel arc flash rating level PPE requirements
  • Formal education in a related field
