The Senior Financial Director stands in for the VP of Financial Budgeting and Planning (VP-FBP) when the VP-FBP is not available and is also responsible for overseeing the teams, policies, procedures, and monthly reporting, as applicable, for the company. The Senior Financial Director directs and coordinates the quality and accuracy of financial information, work product, and internal controls for the Departments in accordance to GAAP, financial principles, federal rules and regulations.
- Support the VP-FBP in the development of financial management strategies and contributes in the development of the department’s strategic goals.
- Advise and supports the VPFBP on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow and policy matters.
- Assist in the annual external audits (Programs), Tax preparation and form 990.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulations.
- Provide overall supervision and management of Department personnel including recruitment, hiring, development, training, evaluation, stewardship, and termination.
- Oversee financial reporting for Southwest Key UM & YFS and Workforce Programs.
- Review journal entries and reconciliations, as applicable, and review and assess staff reports, such as financial statements, expenditure reports, and other Department reports.
- Assist with indirect cost rate calculation.
- Administer the UM and YFS Program budget process, review individual program budgets, and assist the program teams with dissemination of the information to the programs on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and support UM, YFS and Workforce Program audits.
- Manage and update, as needed, all related accounting procedures and policies; ensure compliance within the Departments; and identify and effectuate improvement areas.
- Provide fiscal training to the UM, YFS and Workforce Programs.
- Administer the proposal process as needed.
- Arrange in-person and distance communications with UM,YFS and Workforce Programs on a frequent basis.
- Communicate to funding sources (UM & YFS) as needed to maintain good relationships.
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- CPA with a combination of ten (10) years of accounting and supervisory experience.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
