Senior EH&S Manager Roles and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Senior EH&S Manager within our GEMTE team located at our Houston TX location. This position requires 50% domestic / global travel.
This position is a Senior EH&S Manager role, coordinating Class 4 - 5 GEMTE Projects. The incumbent is responsible to support the execution of Projects through construction and commissioning phases. This position provides guidance, direction and coaching to safety and environmental professionals and specialists responsible for the delivery of health, safety, and environmental processes and policies at Project locations throughout the Americas. The EH&S Manager is expected to be an expert in EH&S Management, and ensure programs are developed to ensure strong EH&S performance throughout construction / commissioning phases.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Supporting Project EH&S Managers to develop a robust safety program at ALL Project locations.
- Promote and implement Air Product’s Project execution EHS management systems and tools.
- Ensuring contractor safety information is reviewed and commented on as necessary.
- Ensure the General Contractor(s) have adequate resources to execute against their safety plans.
- Ensure the General Contractors follow and adhere to their own safety programs as well as those of AP.
- When required and requested, take part in contractor and sub-contractor kick off meetings.
- Monitor the rotation schedules of EH&S personnel within their team and ensure adequate cover at all times.
- Ensuring the project emergency response and medical plans are developed Help deliver proprietary training programs and other training programs as necessary when required.
- Ensuring specific risk assessments and Method Statements for all work activities are reviewed and commented on where necessary, prior to commencement of works.
- Ensuring contractor safety programs and safe work practices are reviewed and monitored prior to Contractor mobilization.
- Ensuring Project personnel are directed in matters affecting emerging risks.
- Ensuring EH&S information/expertise is provided to the site team when solicited and when not, to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.
- Support incident / accident investigations ensuring a robust investigation is completed with a detailed RCA.
- Ensure all incidents are entered into the AP proprietary incident tracking system, Event Management and closed out in a timely manner.
- Demonstrating a strong leadership commitment to support all Projects.
- Actively participating in and leading safety promotion events, competitions, established programs for Projects meeting key EH&S milestones.
- Inspecting and auditing the site locations on a regular to assure compliance with the GEMTE EH&S Management System
- Leading and participating in meetings involving contractor safety problems/incidents.
- Ensuring AP Project EH&S Managers are managed and coordinated within their respective areas.
- Maintaining a strong and effective professional working relationship with the AP Project Management, Client, interfacing EPC’s, Sub-contractors, and other stakeholders.
- When required or requested, represent AP in meetings with the Client, interfacing EPC’s, Sub-contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Identifying and addressing risks and issues, escalating to the Site Manager, and Project Managers as required.
- Providing leadership to ensure prompt prioritization and coordination of all unforeseen issues at the site, escalating to the Site Manager and Project Managers as required.
- Ensuring the EH&S plan is updated on a regular basis in conjunction with the site management team.
- Give input to ensure the accurate completion of the EH&S section of the monthly reports.
Education and Licensing Requirements:
- Education, prefer BS degree in operational safety or similar.
