What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $120,000-140,000/year, based on experience and education. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but is not limited to:

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work 3 days per week on site at the Denver International Airport. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
What You'll Do

Key responsibilities of the Senior Engineer - Aviation will include:
  • Acts as a design team leader on complex airfield projects; including managing consultant and construction contracts, design and construction oversight and review, and stakeholder communication/coordination
  • Acts as a lead and subject matter expert for the airside engineering team
  • Attends stakeholder meetings that are controversial and/or complex in order to resolve issues and provide technical expertise
  • Cultivates, fosters, and maintains positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support on assigned projects
  • Resolves conflicts, develops creative solutions, and keeps team members focused on overall goals
  • Prepares and presents a variety of special engineering studies, correspondence, records, files, and reports
  • Supervises entry level engineer(s) and technical support staff (currently, this Senior Engineer position has one direct report vacancy that this role will be responsible for hiring)

About You
We are looking for someone with some or all the following skills and experience:
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in design for a commercial airport particularly with work in the gate area, deicing systems, runway and taxiway pavement and lighting rehab
  • Excellent Communication skills - verbally and in writing
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Creative problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to stay current on industry trends

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional engineering experience after obtaining a Professional Engineering (PE) license. (Some positions may require experience in a specific engineering area)
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application
  • Requires registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers at the time of application
  • Registration in another state will be accepted in lieu of this requirement, provided that the applicant has Colorado registration at completion of probation
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
