Purpose

The Senior Director Operations, Engineering is responsible for long term strategic business planning (operational, and tactical), as well as ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of the company's gas distribution and production assets. Leading the Gas Operations and Engineering Teams to deliver on System Replacement & Reliability Programs, GIS/Mapping, Corrosion Control System Planning, and meeting all mandated compliance work and processes. This position requires a strong, accomplished record in providing strategic leadership to oversee gas personnel performing Gas System Operations, Maintenance and Construction of all gas assets to meet compliance requirements, capital, maintenance, and operating plans.  In addition, the Senior Director, Operations, Engineering will support and assure proper resources to oversee the Gas Meter Operations, Meter Shop, Instrumentation and Regulation and LNG & LPG plant operations, Gas Dispatch, System Protection and Compliance, Quality Assurance and Emergency Management Programs. 

People Development responsibilities include leading culture, role modeling change leadership, succession planning, and incorporating diversity, equity and inclusion. Engage with the Operations Team to ensure that state resources are in compliance and certified to meet the work requirements. Engage with Gas Modality peers across the enterprise to support objectives towards standardizing and improving operational practices and processes, support the development innovative technologies and solutions to drive synergies across the gas modality. Support and participate in AGA committees and best practice measurements to which Liberty can implement benefit from.

Accountabilities

Strategic
•    Establish short term objectives, engage with direct reports and their teams all targets and requirements for the safe, compliant, timely and on-budget execution of field operational services, construction, and maintenance programs. Work with the team to continually improve processes to increase efficiencies to produce savings, includes effective project and work plan tracking and meeting mandated compliance targets.
•    Assure the Liberty Operations & maintenance manual and associated procedures are understood and consistently applied to deliver safe and compliant operational services. Engage with Gas Modality peers to align procedures across the enterprise to drive towards operational excellence objectives.
•    Support and provide resources where needed to develop and apply new emerging technologies supporting Liberty's long-term carbon zero manage the department’s staffing, resources, and mentoring to maintain a best-in-class operations department, with support and guidance from Resource Planning.
•    Engage the operational leadership and their teams to develop long-term operational capital system reliability, replacement, and growth plans for the Operations department, using inputs from Engineering, Field Operations and Resource Planning to drive improvements in safety, reliability, customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Customer Field Service & Daytime Dispatch
•    Ensure Dispatching (day-time), processes deliver reliable service to our customers in executing all work activities related to operational activities including emergency and event response, metering distribution construction, maintenance, and field operations.
•    Acts as incident commander to enable effective preparation, response, to safely restore service to our customers and identify lessons learned throughout an emergency or event; Strong leadership role required in effectively communicating response actions.
•    Ensure team provides timely and reliable metering services
 

Education and Experience

•    Successful candidate will be required to have bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline with 15+ years of utility operations experience.  Master’s degree in applicable field desired.  
•    A minimum of 10 years of relevant business experience working with senior leaders and demonstrated ability to build effective relationships across the organization.    
•    Minimum of 5 years professional level management experience is required. 
•    Experience in change leadership, building customer relationships / consulting skills, strategic insight, process and project management and organizational dynamics is required. 
•    Energetic and enthusiastic business leader with drive and ambition. 
•    Ability to being creative and innovative approaches to the business.
•    Demonstrated experience with engineering design principles applicable to electric & gas utility operations such as, generation, transmission, distribution and other related fields
•    Knowledge of engineering standards, codes, practices, procedures, materials, and equipment used in the design, construction, and operation of the gas & electric utility systems
•    Proficient with use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic e-mail systems.
•    This position will require the incumbent to live within the region they support and travel approximately 20% of the time.
•    Flexible with traveling within the US & Canada
