,JOB SUMMARY
- The role of Design Engineer at BUNN is to create electro-mechanical design solutions by applying engineering principles, physics, and material science. The objective is to plan and execute component and system level design and detailed drawings using 3D CAD systems that meet expectations for key factors such as quality, cost, timing, manufacturability and serviceability on both new and current products. This position requires strong critical thinking skills and working in a collaborative team environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design products with little direction from Project Engineers and management that meet form, fit and function requirements per company and industry standards.
- Problem-solve and brainstorm creative design solutions to technical challenges on new and existing products.
- Construct and modify detailed CAD component models, assembly models and drawings of a complex nature such as injection molded, cast and formed sheet metal parts.
- Follow best practices to implement design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, cost and other critical factors.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers on material selection, stress analysis, thermal analysis, component specifications and overall design integrity and reliability.
- Determine tolerances and conduct tolerance analysis on components, assemblies and drawings.
- Perform computer simulations and mathematical modeling to virtually test and refine design.
- Support documentation team in assigning new part numbers, developing accurate bills of materials, and constructing engineering change notifications.
- Plan and lead design review meetings. Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Participate in prototype builds and competitive analysis.
- Support existing products through continuous improvement, quality issue resolution and value improvement.
- Promote effective cross-functional teamwork by collaborating with other roles such as manufacturing, purchasing, quality, service, agency, documentation, software, hardware, marketing and technical publications.
- Keep current on latest advancements in technology, design trends and engineering best practices.
- Mentor and coach other design team members as required.
- Execute other duties as assigned.

- Possess 8+ years engineering design experience, B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
