Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the rapid growth of the rail transit systems section and projects across North America. The person will work under the direction of an Engineering Manager, perform preliminary engineering and/or detail engineering design for HVAC, ventilation, pump and other miscellaneous mechanical systems for industrial and commercial facilities.
You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers' Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Location
This position is based out of our Itasca, IL or McLean, VA location with opportunities for hybrid work schedule. Remote work is available based on individual's years of experience, qualifications and expertise.
Responsibilities
  • Develop preliminary engineering design and detail engineering design for HVAC, ventilation, pumping stations and other miscellaneous mechanical systems for rail and transit and other industrial and commercial facilities.
  • Perform calculations manually or using applicable software to support design.
  • Develop technical reports and white paper.
  • Perform field survey and field test.

Qualifications
  • Must possess at least 5+ years' experience in facility/building mechanical system design
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or related fields
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain one in 12 months is preferred
  • Proficient in CAD and modeling software, like AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit
  • Proficient in MS office suite
  • Ability to travel as business requires

Base Compensation: $127,684 - $145,000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
