In this position, you will work closely with the CesiumAstro technical and strategy teams to prioritize and develop new algorithms, technologies, and approaches to solve leading edge problems in space communications with a strong focus on research, analysis, development, and test of satellite systems. The successful candidate enjoys bringing an idea from concept to prototype stage including both modeling and experimentation/verification/test.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze and prototype solutions for flight hardware optimizing for reliability and efficiency.
- Define and implement experiment plans, identify and manage milestones, and set clear actionable goals that work in cooperation with goals across the company.
- Work closely with IP team to ensure that core ideas are protected.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
- 4+ years of research, internship, or academic experience in space communications.
- Very strong background in digital signal processing, statistics, linear algebra, and communication.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting and one programming language (ideally Python & C++) and corresponding SW development practices (requirement definition, version control, code review, issue tracking, etc.)
- Deep understanding of RF concept, impairments, and the resulting impact on baseband processing theory, machine learning, and L1/L2 algorithms.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience working in a version-controlled environment (Git or SVN).
- Experience with RF test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, RF power meter, link tester).
- Experience with over-the-air RF test and antenna-range test.
