Job Purpose:
A highly motivated Senior Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the accounting functions and leading a small team. The Senior Accounting Manager will manage development, implementation, and maintenance of one or more accounting functions including journal entries, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue reconciliation, and cash flows in accordance with generally accepted accounting policies and procedures. A successful candidate will be detailed oriented, able to manage team members and deadlines, and have a continuous improvement mindset.
As the Senior Accounting Manager, the team member will:
Oversee the general ledger accounting functions of the division.
Oversee and review accounts payable functions to include but not limited to invoice approval, posting and billing, weekly check generation, cash applications, and collections.
Perform monthly reconciliations (cash, inventory, statements, etc.) to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial transactions.
Perform year-end Syteline (ERP) maintenance related to A/P, A/R, GL, and payroll.
Coordinates and lead audits in addition to performing other financial related duties as required.
Oversees statutory compliance with all tax and reporting requirements.
Leads a small staff of accounting and payroll employees with the responsibility of mentoring and developing team members in addition to fostering their professional growth and advancement.
Provides financial support to Sr. Leadership as required to include presentations and Board material preparation.
Develop, modify, and follow all standard operating procedures in the Finance area.
Coach and guide associates on error resolution and drive best practices.
Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
Work with CFO on insurance renewals.
Other duties as assigned.
Abilities and Other Skills:
Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Lifting: Up to 10 pounds under 1/3 of the time.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
There are supervisory responsibilities for this job with one subordinate supervisor reporting to this job and two employees reporting to the subordinate supervisor.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four‐year college or university with seven plus years progressive accounting experience including at least two years of experience in a managerial role.
Required Skills/Experience:
Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work independently and/or with a team having solid communications skills.
Strong attention to detail, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Significant experience in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Preferred Experience/Education:
Experience with an ERP system (accounting and costings areas) - Infor -Syteline a plus.
Current CPA Certification or master's degree is a plus.
