Western National is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team!
The individual in this role will have the opportunity to support our Accounting Department in a broad range of activities, gain valuable experience, and have exposure to senior management and other business functions.
What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?
- Prepares tax workpapers and federal and state returns.
- Participates in tax strategy planning.
- Prepares regulatory and compliance reports.
- Researches and presents technical tax and accounting issues.
- Prepares analysis while providing explanations and interpretations.
- Provides general accounting support.
- Partners with external auditors.
- Works on special projects to advance the practices of the department.
What are the must-have qualifications for a candidate?
- At least five years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, theories, and practices.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to interpret and report financial data.
- Background in financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong experience working to find answers without specific direction.
- Accounting degree preferred; experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.

- Previous experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
Compensation overview
The full hiring range for this role is $79,000 - $110,000 annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.
