Job Description
This position is the sole clerical in the Dickinson County office, providing front desk, administrative, and secretarial support. The Secretary 1 works in conjunction with the supervisor and/or Personnel Business Manager to coordinate office operations.
Duties:
Secretarial duties include providing coverage to the reception area; scheduling appointments; answering telephones and responding to questions/routing callers in a professional and courteous manner; provide back-up coverage to other county offices as needed.
Administrative duties include monitoring inventory and ordering supplies; issuing official receipts and providing notary services; checking county email; and processing local mail.
This position will also assist with the Local Administrative Expense budgeting process by completing the quarterly LAE expenditure report; complete and process invoices to assure timely payment of office expenses; monitor the budget monthly to assure adherence to line item and overall monetary parameters; participate in annual audits.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Experience equal to one year of full-time clerical or closely related work;
OR
post high school course work in an accredited secretarial, business, or closely related curriculum may be substituted for the required experience on a month-for-month basis;
OR
completion of thirty (30) semester (or equivalent) hours of undergraduate college level course work may be substituted for the one year of required experience;
OR
certification from the State of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program will substitute for six months of the required experience;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes permanent status as a Typist-Advanced.
