Seasonal Greenhouse Labor

Responsibilities: • The Applied Genetics Team is responsible for planting and tissue sampling of thousands of plant samples annually in support of the application of molecular breeding tools. Our work includes several crop species, utilizing various DNA and RNA techniques. This position will work with the Applied Genetics Team in support of plant propagation in our greenhouses including tissue sampling, planting, transplanting, project cycling tasks, etc…. Our primary goal is to integrate and apply developing plant science technologies faster and more efficiently than all others in our industry. All other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plant care in greenhouses and growth chambers.
• Works to ensure the accuracy of samples/log/collecting data to the customer.
• Ensures that bar code labels are up to date and legible for scanners to read and advised management when new barcode labels are needed.
• Scans barcodes at customer site to generate customer orders.
• Maintains awareness quality record keeping and reports observations back to department managers.
• Assist in the annual inventory (cycle) counts on consigned
• Presents information and respond to questions from managers.
• Performs other duties as requested.
• Valid driver’s license that complies with Syngenta’s standards.
• Willingness to learn and work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature.
• Must maintain a clean workstation.
• Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.
• Must be a self-starter with the willingness to work with or without supervision.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• May be required to wear various forms of protective equipment (shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.).
• Days per week are M- F

+$18.50 / hour
+Paid weekly

• Sitting, standing, walking, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.
• Must have the ability to handle physical inventory that requires hand dexterity.
• May work in extreme hot or cold environments; various facilities may have dusty conditions.

Dress Code:
1. Long pants, closed toe shoes, in some areas steel toe boots may be required.
2. Shirt must have sleeves and cover the midriff.
3. Use proper bending, twisting, and lifting techniques.
4. While working outdoors wear light colored clothing and sunscreen, drink water to stay hydrated, always wear proper PPE. Report any unsafe work conditions or injuries immediately.
5. All PPE is provided.
6. PPE may vary by job duty. It may include: safety glasses, gloves, closed toe/heel shoes, sunscreen and lab coat if needed.
