Scientist-Structural Biology
Vancouver, WA
We seek a motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced Scientist to join our Protein Engineering and Structural Biology Team. You will be significant in Structural Biology initiatives related to generative artificial intelligence (AI) antibody design. Your experience and knowledge in Structural Biology, biophysics, computational biology, protein engineering, and high-throughput protein production methods will be leveraged to innovate and complete our structure initiatives related to our guided drug discovery programs at Absci.

This position requires strategic thinking and high collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams within Absci, including experimental design and execution. The ideal candidate will have experience in various areas, such as working across dynamic teams, collaborating on high-throughput experimental structure determination, structural analysis, and computational biology, designing and executing experiments related to high-throughput experimental structure generation, developing methods for rapid antibody-antigen structure determination workflows and present findings and progress updates to team members and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:

• Work to establish novel high-throughput workflows to support generative AI antibody discovery platform
• Work closely with protein engineering and AI team to support structure-based AI initiatives across multiple programs
• Perform complex structural analysis of antibodies, epitopes, protein-protein interactions
• Develop efficient methods for generating structures of antibody-antigen complexes
• Develop protein engineering strategy to improve efficiency of experimental structure determination of antibody-antigen complexes
• Develop automated methods to improve structure determination workflow
• Prepare presentations to communicate scientific progress

Qualifications:

• PhD with 1+ years, MS with 7+ years in Structural Biology, biochemistry, biophysics or biochemical engineering fields
• Broad experience with macromolecular crystallography, along with a proven track record of structure determination is required
• Experience with automated processing of experimental structural data
• Experience with high throughput structure determination
• Hands-on experience establishing high-throughput workflows and analyzing complex data sets
• Demonstrated track record of working on teams cross-functionally to exceed goals.

Preferred (but not required):

• Experience working with antibody
• Computational biophysics experience
• High-throughput methods development
• Experience working with python

The salary range for this position is $111,000 - $125,000/year. Competitive equity package applies. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
