Kemper is seeking a SAS Administrator/Engineer for our Data Science Services team.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Enterprise Data Services, Enterprise Architecture, DevOps, and Business Intelligence partners for supporting various initiatives in SAS application
- Configure, install, test, and maintain application software (deploying SAS Platform for data sources like Snowflake, Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
- Day to day administration & maintenance activities for SAS application- user onboarding and access control (security roles/architecture/service accounts), manage SAS applications policies, maintain activity logs and monitor usage
- Help design and build the approach for proper back-up/restore operations
- Collaborate with other teams to resolve technical issues and outages
- Provide support, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure system availability
- Develop and maintain SAS security roles & policies
- SAS platform migration to cloud (AWS)
- SDLC deployment from non-prod to prod environments
- Maintain DB instance/source updates as data servers are migrated to cloud servers and databases to new DB platforms
- Create Runbooks and How-to guides for different installation, configuration & support items
- Analyze server usage, memory, and workload configuration within SAS services
- Be the liaison and work effectively with SAS vendor to resolve issues, provide POCs, implement upgrades/hot fixes, and plan for license renewal, following SAS best-practices.
- Maintain user provisioning in SAS Management Console
- Collaborate with the network, security, and server administration teams to implement Kemper data and security standards, including but not limited to firewall rules modification, server whitelisting, data masking, and row level security.
- Understand overall SAS ecosystem and other Business Intelligence/Data Analytics software, having exposure to Business Intelligence tools like Tableau and PowerBI (or similar technologies).
- Understanding of Business Intelligence methodologies (Star schemas, Fact tables, dimensions) and data lakes (data lake zones and technologies such as Snowflake).
- Support SAS environment middle-tier database drivers and technology (Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc).
- Support SAS developers/users with knowledge transfer, SQL code authoring/fixes, and best-practices.
- Serve as an escalation point for production and platform issues, act as liaison between SAS business users and SAS vendor. Manage SAS cases.
- Capacity planning and management, implement required changes to ensure SAS ecosystem reliability and performance
- Follow company change management process in respect to new releases, upgrades, and production fixes
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement appropriate solutions, enhancements, and new tools to ensure business needs are met.
Position Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in SAS administration where you have installed and performed software upgrades.
- 8+ years of Oracle PL and SQL Server T SQL code generation, modification, tuning, and implementation
- Advanced certifications preferred.
- Proven work experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows based cloud environments, preferably in AWS
- Good understanding of system networking, including firewalls, load balancers, storage, etc.
- Experience with Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau, and PowerShell is a plus
- Strong experience in providing operational support and problem resolution for large complex application environments
- Demonstrated problem solving and quantitative skills
- Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to work with multiple vendors
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Remote position working from the Jacksonville, FL or Chicago, IL areas with occasional travel to the office if necessary.
The range for this position is $78,800 to $135,000. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is eligible for Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
