Sales & Event Coordinator

Position Summary: The Charles River Boat Company is looking to hire an experienced and energetic Sales & Event Coordinator to join the charter sales team. The Sales & Event coordinator is responsible for the successful sale and service of 100+ private charters. This position will focus primarily on the sale of groups of 35 guests or less. All coordinators handle corporate, social, and university events. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of hospitality, event planning, and sales experience with knowledge of event catering.
Job Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to incoming inquiries
- Work with client from point of sale through the event planning process
- Maintain appropriate balance of servicing booked clients and prospecting for new business
- Assist clients with menu planning, bar service, event setup, and entertainment when requested
- Work directly with catering company to service catering needs of prospective and booked clients
- Think critically when selling events to find balance between private and public events to maximize revenue
- Keep up on industry trends and constantly look for creative ways to find new accounts
- Work closely with operations staff and onboard crew to ensure proper vessel set up and Event details prior to charter
- Welcome group contact upon arrival and ensure guest satisfaction. Ride onboard as an event manager if necessary
- Engage in site visits and other client meetings
- Work as manager on duty weekend days and evenings on a rotating basis to cover public cruises and private events
Job Requirements
- 2+ Years of event planning and/or sales experience. Experience in a hotel, wedding venue, or catering company preferred, but not required
- Strong sales skills required including experience with prospecting, cold calls, and closing sales
- Experience working in a start up company or small company environment
- Self-motivated and able to work as an individual and as part of a team
- Go getter mindset with desire to make a difference
- Knowledge of the Boston Harbor and Charles River helpful
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Schedule is (4) weekdays and (1) weekend day April – November. (Occasional weekends can be requested off in advance for personal time if needed). During off-season winter months, employees will work a four (4) day, eight (8) hour per day work week and be compensated for a full work week. Dates for this winter schedule will be determined yearly and can vary between departments.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test with ongoing random testing throughout employment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
