JENNMAR is seeking a Safety Specialist who will assist in planning, leading, organizing, controlling, evaluating and implementing the entire Safety/Health process, participating in all required activities while supporting management.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- College/University Degree Preferred;
- High School Diploma/GED Required;
- Two (2) Years Related Safety and OSHA experience required; or Equivalent Combination of Education and Experience
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health management systems and regulatory safety standards.
- Possess ability to utilize safety inspection methods, techniques, and equipment as well as reason and make judgements to meet deadlines in a high-volume production environment.
- Possess proficient organizational skills with great attention to detail with a safety and quality orientated mindset.
- Possess excellent verbal/written communication skills to present information or ideas clearly to personnel at all levels of production operations and plant/senior management.
- Possess proficient information gathering and monitoring skills to facilitate effective, unbiased decision making and problem-solving functions.
- Possess proficient mathematical ability to provide technical support
- Possess proficient computer literacy.
- Possess a proactive and action oriented “Team” mentality with ability to take initiative and maintain confidentiality.
- Possess close visual acuity and upper limb coordination with (5-20 lbs) lifting capability during normal work duties.
- Possess ability to sit or stand as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Assist in managing the overall Safety compliance, record keeping, and reporting for OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory entities
- Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to required Safety procedures (ex. LOTO, SOP’s)
- Perform risk assessments of manufacturing processes to include implementing controls and review of effectiveness
- Ensure the workplace is evaluated for occupational exposures (IH for noise, air contaminants) and measures put in place (ex. audiograms)
- Ensure employees are provided with the necessary resources to perform their jobs safely (ex. training, forms/procedures, PPE)
- Analyses and participates in Management-Based Safety (MBS) processes on a regular basis and ensures that all available resources are being utilized effectively by Management
- Assist with required, documented inspections while continually inspecting plant areas for safety risks/hazards, compliance issues, and areas of improvement
- Ensures inspections required by other teammates are performed, reviewed for issues, and issues addressed accordingly
- Assists with completion of preventative/corrective actions for incidents and other Safety related issues, as well as, continual improvement projects
- Administers Company Safety recognition program and promotes motivation/participation
- Assist the H.R. Administrator with claim reporting/handling, return-to-work program, and any other Workers’ Compensation requirements/issues
- Attends training sessions to acquire innovative methods to maintain contemporary Safety procedures.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by Plant or Senior management.
