GENERAL PURPOSE:
Responsible for coordinating and implementing environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and company policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, implements, and manages programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
- Develops accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization.
- Manages and coordinates safety activities, through subordinate supervisory personnel, to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout organization.
- Conducts or appoints others to provide safety training, identify hazards, etc.
- Conducts routine safety inspections, analyzes high hazard areas and makes recommendations for elimination and control of hazards
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, DOT and EPA, prepares necessary reports and maintains compliance records
- Responds to all OSHA and EPA citations or violations
- Performs and/or assists workplace evaluations reviews, accident investigations and coordinates with insurance carriers for workers compensation, property and auto
- Assists risk management in preparing the safety portion of the pre-qualification documents
- Provides oversight and implementation of hazardous waste removal
- Creating Site Specific Safety Plan and JHA/AHA
- Conducting Safety Inspections at project sites and provide inspection reports
- Coordinates Safety specification requirements and onsite activities including, but not limited to, inspect, test, and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, programs, and practices to ensure the following of all governing safety requirements
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Chairs safety committee meetings
- Responds and provides assistance to emergency situations
- Attends conferences, meeting, and workshops to keep up-to-date on new safety methods and procedures to applicable codes and regulations or to maintain required level of certification
- Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned

A Bachelors Degree and five or more years of relevant experience involving demonstrated abilities in safety and compliance, EPA and OSHA regulatory experience; or any combination of training, education and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
- Ability to understand and comply with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety applicable to the Company
- Previous experience in environmental health and safety compliance required
- Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple work activities to meet critical deadlines, as well as working independently
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing
- Ability to operate computer, telephone, and other office equipment
- Excellent computer skills in word processing, and spreadsheets
- Strong work ethic with an enthusiastic, positive attitude, and the highest level of integrity
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Maintain regular and timely attendance
