Position Summary:

The Safety and Compliance Manager has a passion for creating a safe environment for Team Members and resort guests in a luxury hospitality environment. This position finds balance between driving a positive safety culture and supporting resort operations through a common-sense approach to ensuring regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, execution of safety programming, and professional working relationships with Team Members at all levels. Essential Functions:
  • Safety Program Administration
  • Development, administration, and maintenance of Safety and applicable regulatory compliance programs for respective Edgewood Tahoe Resort and Edgewood Water Company operations.
  • Serves as a positive safety role model and inspires others to embrace this culture.
  • Drives safety culture by planning, developing and administrating safety-related programs including those outlined within Edgewood’s Written Workplace Safety Program and other compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping for all aspects of the safety program.
  • Plan, develop, and facilitate annual safety training and related initiatives to ensure timely completion for Edgewood Tahoe Resort, Edgewood Water Company, and Corporate office.
  • Conducts new Team Member safety orientation.
  • Develop and deliver planned programmed safety related communication and education.
  • Partner with department leadership to conduct timely incident investigation to determine root cause, secondary causes, and corrective actions for work-related incidents.
  • Maintain required OSHA injury reporting and record keeping.
  • Actively facilitate and administrate Edgewood’s Safety Committee.
  • Assist with claims administration, analytics, and reporting.
  • Workers’ Compensation Claims Administration
  • Responsible for timely reporting and ongoing maintenance of workers’ compensation claims.
  • Acts as main point of contact for Team Members as related to workers’ compensation.
  • Manages temporary light duty program.
  • Liaison between department supervisor and injured worker to coordinate accident investigation and return to work programming.
  • Liaison between Edgewood and medical provider to ensure timely information flow and reporting from medical provider to Edgewood and Insurer.
  • Assists with compiling data for incident trending and other analytics.
  • Act as lead or support during regulatory inspection and foster positive working relationships with regulatory agencies as required.
  • Develop and conduct periodic inspection of Edgewood Companies assets to include Edgewood Tahoe Resort, Edgewood Water Company, and owned housing location/s, to meet internal objectives and ensure compliance with applicable regulations—specifically but not limited to OSHA and International Fire Code.
  • Support or lead emergency planning and training across all Company functions.
  • Administrate resort KeyWatcher system to ensure compliance with key management protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

Qualifications / Special Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-3 years’ work experience in Health and Safety or related field, resort/hospitality experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state EHS-related regulations, specifically OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and Nevada Workers’ Compensation statutes.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification required. OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation claims management, OSHA recordability guidelines, and return to work processes.
  • Proven experience with conducting risk assessment, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to positively influence change by developing cooperative networks and building trust at all levels with internal and external partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective written policy/procedural compliance documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize.
  • General knowledge of the hospitality industry and specific resort operations.
  • Proficient in use of relevant management systems and various Microsoft applications.
  • Bi-lingual is a plus but not required.
  • Available to work varied schedule when needed, including weekends and holidays.
