Position Summary

 

 

This position will be based at our Las Vegas, NV operation, reporting to the VP of Transportation. The selected candidate will be responsible for the oversight of all aspects of Fleet Safety and Regulatory Compliance including, but not limited to, FMCSA, DOT, CA BITHOS, CSA, OSHA, and ELD.  The incumbent will recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications of process and policies. Finally, he/she will advise Jensen Precast’s leadership regarding issues related to Fleet Safety and will stay well informed of safety trends and pending legislation that will affect the industry.

 

 

 

 

Principle Accountabilities

 

  • Ensure the company and all employees comply with Federal and State regulations to include drivers – FMCSA, DOT, CSA, OSHA, HOS, ELD.
  • Identify areas of poor performance indicators as reported by FMCSA. Provide guidance and oversee all communications related to the reporting of FMCSA scores and progress to the operations and senior leadership.
  • Oversee the maintenance and compliance of driver qualification and equipment files.
  • Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators to measure driver Safety and compliance.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop corrective actions plans for the affected area(s) and provide guidance to ensure defined management controls are continuously effective.
  • Submit required documents to FMCSA and repose to audit information requests in a timely manner.
  • Review and monitor FMCSA safety scores and provide basic CSA scores and reports.
  • Monitor, review, and respond to drivers ELD for HOS violations and questions.
  • Ensure driver related policies are compliant with FMCSA and state transportation regulations.
  • Respond to incidents and accidents; accident preventable discussions and review proper accountability.
  • Review accident files for accuracy and documents as needed and submit to FMCSA.
Qualifications

Position Requirements

 

The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated record of accomplishment in the development, execution and general leadership of safety functions within an asset-based fleet operation. Additional candidate attributes include:

 

  • Must have 5 or more years’ experience with DOT regulations and safety administration in a trucking, general industry, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a multi-site, multi-state environment.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations, Drug & Alcohol Regulations (including Parts 40, 199, & 382), including and other Regulatory Guidance.
  • Adept at developing and implementing strategies and action plans surrounding fleet and driver safety.
  • Proficient with modern Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook email.
  • The ability to identify and address root causes when solving problems, working collaboratively with other departments and functional teams to coordinate effective solutions.
  • Ability to direct a team towards a cohesive set of strategic objectives and maintain efficient timelines in the completion of projects.
  • Experience in writing policy and procedures for compliance with USDOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Experience and certification in weight and measurements of vehicles.
  • Experience in conducting accident investigations, crash reconstruction and risk mitigation.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Drug & Alcohol Regulations (including Parts 40, 199, & 382), and other Regulatory Guidance.
