POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Workplace Safety Coordinator will have responsibility of supporting the prevention and reduction of harmful situations to ensure workplace safety. They will be responsible for the administration of the corporate safety program within the jobsite/area, This position will set an example of safety behavior in accordance with company safety culture. They will assist in the identification of job site/area specific safety requirements, safety equipment, material procurement, and training requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
- Serves as the point of contact for Traveler’s Worker’s Compensation Insurance and builds solid knowledge of procedures for reporting and managing work injuries.
- Document safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Maintaining safety equipment supply and availability according to company standards and operating budget.
- Maintains current awareness of applicable federal, state and local health, industrial hygiene and safety regulations.
- Accompany visiting inspectors and report findings.
- Administer the plant hazard communication program, including maintaining up-to-date SDS's, effective identification of all chemicals, chemical inventory and related training and education programs.
- Accumulate, prepare and enter health, industrial hygiene, and medical and safety data into the EHS computer system. Analyze data and prepare standard and other requested reports for plant and regional management.
- Conduct safety meetings and provide safety orientation to new hires.
- Ensure all safety required trainings are completed and the plant remains in compliance. New Hire and Annual programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
- 1-2 years hands-on EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and must have a critical eye for inspections
- Works well in team environment
- Works independently and results oriented
