Job Description
Key Staffing is looking to fill a Safety Coordinator role in the Hanford, CA area. This position is a direct hire, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate should have five plus years of safety experience.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
· Oversee safety staff and activities to maintain a safe and productive work environment for the company’s workforce.
· Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
· Communicate and work well with other employees, supervisors, and managers in a timely manner.
· Coordinates the safety programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
· Evaluates the effectiveness of safety programs.
· Oversee safety inspections to identify and correct potential hazards to ensure safety regulation compliance.
· Knowledge and implementation of company Injury Illness Prevention Program.
· Reviews current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
· Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
· Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment.
· Discipline employees for not following safe work procedures.
· Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
· Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
· Ensure injury reports are submitted to Human Resources for Workers Compensation claims.
· Prepares and implements departmental budget.
· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
· Recruits and hires qualified staff for safety operations.
· Conducts performance evaluations for safety staff that are timely and constructive.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent management and supervisory skills.
· Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and emergency preparedness.
· Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· High level of confidentiality.
· Ability to conduct training.
· Bilingual in Spanish is required.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
· Associates degree in Business Management or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· At least five years of safety experience required.
· Advanced training or certification in safety preferred.
