Sheakley is hiring a Safety Coordinator for our client in San Francisco Bay, CA. Our client is one of the nation's leading construction contracting firms.
Compensation Package: Salary: $105-120K

Scope of Work: Safety oversight of Heavy Civil contractor, excavating company, concrete, soil stabilization, emergency response, and underground utilities.
- Will report to the safety director
- Will act as a guide between PMs & field employees
- Will complete daily safety inspections
- Will assist in coordinating company-wide annual safety meetings and quarterly foremen safety meetings
- Will assist in field employee onboarding
- No overnight travel
- Gas card will be provided
Position approx Start: ASAP
Position Hours/Schedule: 40 Hours, 1st Shift, M-F
**Certification Requirements**: Bachelor's degree in Health & Safety, Civil engineering or Construction Management or 4+ years of construction engineering experience. And 2+ years of safety experience
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for all safety aspects related to the subcontractor selection process, subcontractor work plan reviews, training, confined space entry, hot work permitting, scaffolding, etc on a job site. This individual is vital in ensuring the federal, state, local and client EHS standards and regulations are met, and that any violations are discovered proactively and are corrected. Keeping the client site and its employees, including subcontracting employees, safe and in compliance with EHS standards is this individual's goal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans, directs and coordinates an overall occupation safety and health program for employees.
- Identifies conditions which create hazards
- Completes project safety inspections
- Supports Project Teams
- Provide safety coordination and service as directed by the Safety Director.
- Reports to and assists the Safety Director.
- Ensure site-wide enforcement of the Foreman Manual, the applicable Federal or State OSHA Standards and any owner specific requirements.
- Conduct site wide daily safety inspections and monitor safety performance of all GCC and subcontractor personnel.
- Be a resource for foremen and superintendents to help focus on reducing safety risks and problems on the jobsite, while developing effective and positive relationships with foremen and superintendents.
- Help plan and coordinate company-wide Annual Safety Kick-off meeting and Quarterly Foremen Safety meetings.
- Creates and implements safety trainings and field employee onboarding
- Acts as a guide between project management and field employees on Health and Safety items.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Assures compliance with Company safety policies and OSHA safety standards
- Assists with COVID 19 reporting requirements
- Oversights the companies safety tracking program including annual awards
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS
- BS Degree in Health and Safety, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a minimum of 4 years similar construction engineering experience
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 2-3 years working in Safety role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Thorough knowledge of occupational safety and health procedures and practices.
- Good organization and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate with field superintendents and craft personnel
- Work with a diverse group of individuals and organizations representing public agencies, private utilities, subcontractors and suppliers
