Our people division is expanding, and we are seeking a Safety and Health Superintendent to join our team at the Carlin Mine site. As the successful candidate, you will work as part of a team, under supervision, to develop, implement, and monitor Safety and Health programs for near-mine or in-mine facilities in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. You will perform activities essential to ensuring that employees can perform their work safely, preventing injuries or health impairments. In addition, you will advocate for Safety and Health compliance by providing training, conducting compliance monitoring, auditing, and reporting. You will also handle more routine tasks or work on a minor phase, with oversite, of larger projects.

Responsibilities:
- Direct assigned area activities, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, projects, cost containment, and profitability within a three-month window. Ensure timely delivery of results against plans.
- Ensure all operations are carried out safely, consistently, efficiently, and in accordance with environmental regulations, NGM standards, policies, and procedures.
- Drive consistency across supervisors in responding to significant events, incident reporting, investigating incidents, and promoting awareness. Implement preventative and corrective actions consistently across the teams. Ensure compliance with regulations and legal obligations.
- Engage team members in effective problem-solving, including go look, see, and listen approaches. Identify opportunities for improvement, develop recommendations for changes to practices, techniques, and standards, and present them to leadership.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained, providing support for recruiting and hiring activities.
- Support investigations, make corrective action and termination decisions, and provide assistance to shift supervisors in issuing discipline to team members.
- Facilitate smooth transitions during handovers between incoming and outgoing peers, ensuring continuity of operations and safety. Drive consistency in standards across shift supervisors and teams.
- Implement systems to maximize efficiency and resources.
- Observe Safety Interactions conducted by supervisors and provide constructive feedback on improvement areas.
- Foster a culture of feedback by giving feedback, coaching, and mentoring shift supervisors.
- Lead effective meetings for your team.
- Regularly review the performance of team members and provide feedback.
- Conduct Drug and Alcohol Testing as per company policies.
- Fulfill on-call responsibilities as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in mining or a related industry, with demonstrated leadership in Safety and Health.
- Experience in at least two divisional areas, with a minimum of one year in each area.
- Associate Degree in a science-based curriculum or a Bachelor's Degree in a non-scientific field. Alternatively, significant IH/Safety experience.
- Advanced knowledge of MSHA health and safety regulations and standards.
- Experience in multiple divisions is preferred, with a minimum of one year of experience.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate health and safety-related risks.
- Ability to provide training and mentorship on health and safety issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Blue Card Holder.
- Advanced understanding of Occupational Health.
- Advanced Incident Investigation experience and certification.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and web-based data systems.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, plan, and multi-task effectively.
