Caterpillar’s Rental & Used division is hiring a Rental Business Development & Strategy Consultant. In this role, you will work with prioritized Cat dealers to drive rapid and profitable rental revenue growth.

With more than 1,300 global locations, our network has the largest construction equipment rental fleet in the world.
Role Summary: Reporting to the Rental Business Development Director for North and South America, you will leverage your rental industry knowledge to lead Cat dealers through targeted rental growth projects following a proven methodology utilizing established tools.
Job Duties:
This position requires an experienced professional with a proven track record of defining and executing strategic rental growth plans. It will involve driving strategic alignment with Cat dealers and Cat internal partners. You will participate on diverse project teams to analyze the industry, competitive landscape, and current state of performance. You will also deliver financial simulations, identify root causes and solutions, set new strategic goals and performance targets with dealers, and ensure deployment plans are governed and executed on time to deliver profitable and sustainable rental growth.
Align Strategically
Reach strategic rental growth alignment with select Cat dealers and Cat internal stakeholders ahead of project launch.
Align rental strategic initiatives with overarching dealer strategic initiatives.
Select Cat internal team members and counsel Cat dealer on their project team.
Analysis
Run deep analysis for territory (industry, competition, trends, performance).
Establish Cat dealer base performance (commercial, operational, financial) with detailed root cause analysis.
Define the single safe source of data, tools & performance standards to drive consistency as well as performance.
Design Growth Solutions
Work with Cat dealer project team and Cat internal strategy team to follow critical project steps.
Define & implement a strategy for profitable rental growth, through the engagement of all relevant stakeholders.
Advise dealers on performance requirements and all necessary improvement plans.
Counsel dealers in developing increased human performance capability.
Consult with dealers on process improvement methods and assisting with process evaluation.
Advise on existing and potential performance/customer experience issues and improvement measures.
Execute & Govern
Counsel Cat Dealers on governance processes linked to performance requirements.
Lead the Cat internal governance process with internal stakeholders.
Assist dealers in business planning and on effectiveness of meeting expected business results as it related to capability.
Assist Cat Dealer in deploying aligned growth solutions in a timely fashion.
Work with Cat internal partners to support Cat Dealers with relevant solutions.
How You’ll be Successful (Basic Qualifications)
As a thought leader and seasoned project manager, you will leverage the resources and data at your disposal to have strategic conversations with Cat Dealer senior managers to influence their daily operations to generate results. Leadership skills, financial and business acumen, accountability, data driven, ability to influence, negotiate, build consensus, and communicate effectively are all essential skills.
Prior experience in equipment rental or related industry.
Strong project management, organization skills and teamwork mindset.
Strong operational and financial acumen.
Effective communicator verbally, visually and in writing.
Self-starter with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and dedication to quality.
Strong relationship management and strategic thinking skills.
Top Candidates Will Also Have (Desired Qualifications)
Ability to handle both strategic tasks and detailed execution plans in the field.
Proven track record of success consulting with executive leaders for investment decisions.
Experience analyzing data and drawing conclusions.
Ability to drive execution and results in a complex, matrix type environment.
Additional Details:
Location: This role has a preferred work location of Dallas, TX. Cary, NC and Peoria, IL may be considered as alternative work locations.
Domestic relocation assistance is available to the listed locations.
Travel to Cat dealer locations in North and South America may be required based on projects in pipeline. Peak travel could be up to 50% of the working time, but normally will occur at a lesser rate.
