Position Summary
Plug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineering Co-op. The Co-op will be responsible for assisting the Energy Solution - Hydrogen Plant Operation Engineering Team in a wide variety of engineering initiatives and projects in support of the co-op's academic studies. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced green hydrogen production/liquefaction facility engineering and operation environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power's green hydrogen facility process, and operation reliability/process improvement. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.
Project Summary
- Provide technical support assistance to Reliability and Maintenance Manager for a variety of hydrogen production units in order to achieve optimal performance while meeting company safety, environment, and reliability guidelines.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date data within the CMMS, including equipment records, spare part lists, equipment asset register, work orders, maintenance schedules, and other relevant information.
- Process Optimization: work with process engineer and plant operation team to identify opportunities for process improvement, analyzing plant operation data
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of green hydrogen production through PEM electrolysis process and cryogenic liquefaction process
- Learn and understand engineering documentations, such as Process & Instrument Diagram, Equipment and instrument datasheet
- Learn and understand basic process equipment and their function, such as control/manual valves, pumps, compressors, storage tank, etc.
- Work with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze data
- Assist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and management
- Understand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projects
- Ability to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliability
- Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Education and Qualification
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical or a related program
- Prior Internship or Co-op experience preferred
- Must have reliable transportation to the office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Background/experience with data processing and analysis
- Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
- Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
- Excellent follow-through
- Must be driven and self-motivated
- Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality
Pay Rate:
$20.07 - $26.90
