Position Summary:
- The Reliability Engineer works closely with field Maintenance Engineers, Project Engineers, operating area personnel, and All Levels of the Maintenance organization to ensure the safe and profitable operation of the assigned plant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible equipment as Subject Matter Expert
-Centrifugal pumps
-Positive displacement pumps
-Centrifugal compressors (>1500 hp)
-Process Chillers (>300 ton water cooled refrigerant compressors)
-Cooling Towers (structure and mechanical rotating assembly)
-Oversee field repairs on critical overhauls with mechanics & millwrights
- Execute Reliability Control Plans for responsible equipment, enter action items in GE APM/Meridium, execute the items
-Set up spare parts in SAP for components deemed critical as a result of the RCP
-Develop Preventive Maintenance plans for equipment, enter scopes of work in SAP, work w/ Maintenance to set frequencies
-Present capital upgrade projects with justification to management
-Investigate low MTBF causes and develop upgrades to correct
- Oversee Vibration Monitoring and Lubrication program
- Perform Root Cause Analysis for failures and develop actions to prevent recurrence
- Track PM compliance & feed PM work orders due into the weekly maintenance schedule
- Track machinery work cost for PMs & upgrades/overhauls for next year planning
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 2+ years of experience in chemical/petrochemical plant maintenance and/or Reliability Engineering experience
Additional Qualifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt certified preferred
- Internship/Co-op experience applying maintenance engineering principals to mechanical repair work for a variety of typical process plant equipment
- Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
- Experience in a leadership role; temporary or interim assignment acceptable
- Experience using drafting and design software Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks in an industrial plant environment including, but not limited to climbing ladders and performing confined space entries
- Knowledge of mechanical machinery design, selection, repair techniques and performance assessment
- Strong educational background in materials, mechanics, fluid flow, dynamics and heat transfer
- Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented with proven success working independently and in a multi-functional team environment
- Excellent organizational, planning, and verbal and written communication skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities
- Able to use influence to accomplish goals and objectives
- Hands-on experience using SAP work management system or similar
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
