Job description

This position is responsible for recruiting for a variety of roles at a national children’s charity called Board of Child Care. This person would join a team of 5 recruiters dedicated to finding caring, empathetic teammates who will work with our clients and their families each day.

What is this company? Board of who?

Board of Child Care (BCC) is not a federal or state agency. It is an independent not-for-profit organization that serves over 1,000 children annually across 12 locations. You would join about 800 teammates across DC, MD, PA, and WV that empower youth and their families to flourish within their community.

What does the benefits package look like?

  • Accrue vacation at the rate of three weeks per year, plus two floating holidays to use, plus 10 paid holidays when BCC is closed. That is over 30 days of time off per calendar year!
  • Paid sick and bereavement leave
  • Up to 3% annual match to retirement contributions
  • Health insurance is available via CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.
  • Professional and career development includes tuition reimbursement program, access to SHRM and other HR professional development seminars, and other paid continuing education opportunities.

What does this position do?

  • Model and act in accordance with BCC’s core values: safety, empathy, relationships, and impact.
  • Honor differences, acknowledge uniqueness, and amplify all voices. Participate in trainings and group experiences that explore Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) topics. Model the use of inclusive language.
  • Demonstrate and practice BCC’s leadership mindset, “Choose kindness. Solve problems and learn together. Make it happen.”
  • Actively recruit staff to fill vacant positions in multiple programs and departments.
  • Conduct strategy meetings on a regular basis with hiring managers. Distribute meeting minutes to keep stakeholders informed of hiring progress. Clearly capture hiring target counts for each vacancy. Keep hiring managers up to date on where candidates are in the pipeline.
  • Review job application traffic with hiring managers. Alert the Talent Acquisition Manager regarding any job that is not getting sufficient traffic. Partner with the hiring manager and TA Manager to make recommendations for adjustments to language, keywords, and other job settings to ensure a consistent candidate flow is being achieved.
  • Onboard and train new hiring managers to BCC’s applicant tracking system.
  • Maintain candidate stages within ADP (BCC’s Applicant Tracking System).
  • Conduct phone screens to qualify candidates for opportunities.
  • Conduct interviews for potential Talent members.
  • Confirm that the proper paperwork has been completed and signed so an offer can be made to the candidate.
  • Create conditional offer letters and deliver offers to candidates.
  • Manage internal job transfer requests as needed.
  • Ensure a smooth handoff occurs from recruitment to HR and Training teams for new hires to attend orientation.
  • Maintain and update various reports, databases, and tracking sheets.
  • Anticipate upcoming changes in staffing and be proactive in intervening.
  • Represent BCC at career fairs, various colleges, universities, community events, religious organizations and centers, under tapped venues/outlets and role-specific conferences to recruit talent.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with talent placing agencies. (ex. University placement centers)
  • Maintain and continually look for opportunities of ways to source and find new candidates. Utilize search techniques on job placement websites like Indeed and LinkedIn to proactively recruit talent.
  • Post positions internally and externally.
