SUMMARY

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring components and assemblies meet company quality standards, for inspection of production materials, as well as engineering or unreleased product. The Quality Control Inspector may audit material at supplier, as well as audit supplier quality control programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs set up, samples, test and inspection/audits of complex materials, products or and processes.
  • Able to read, interpret and measure product to engineering drawings.
  • Works with suppliers and other groups inspecting and determining the disposition of materials.
  • Keeps records and makes reports indicating results of inspections.
  • Supports MRB process, ensuring proper segregation, identification, and disposition of discrepant material.
  • Facilitates, creates, and updates inspection documentation as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE), able to use common gages and equipment to complete measurements accurately.

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Inspection Concepts, Techniques and Processes (use of tools and equipment)
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills for data entry and to operate testing equipment.
  • Familiar with GD&T and related measurement techniques.
  • Ability to properly complete/audit assembly related documentation including inspection forms, nonconformance documentation, etc.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school education or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Intermediate reading and math skills (report writing, algebraic and geometrical calculations).
  • ASQ certified Quality Inspector preferred.
  • Able to attain EPA Refrigerant handling certification, if applicable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed and may require walking primarily on a level surface for a significant amount of the day (>8 hours). This position requires frequent reaching with occasional reaching above shoulder heights. May be occasionally required to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required.

This position may also require excellent eyesight to identify colors, depth, and dimension in the day-to-day work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The primary work environment provides for co-worker interactions, ambient room temperature, excellent lighting, and traditional assembly line production equipment as found in a typical manufacturing environment. The area is free from oils and other disagreeable elements. Certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, gloves, and mandatory hearing protection. Safety glasses and closed toed and closed heel shoes are required in all manufacturing areas.
