Summary:
The position of Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for performing inspections, checks, testing and sampling procedures for all raw materials, purchased components, and finished goods. Record all data collected from quality inspections and report accordingly. Emphasis on technical skills, root cause analysis, problem solving, and leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include, but not limited to the following:
• Perform inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/electrical measurements.
• Block, Hold, or Reject any components using SAP.
• Conduct and document process and system audits using written procedures (GQS) as audit standards.
• Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing.
• Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
• Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocols and checklists.
• Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervise.
• Lead Quality improvement projects
• Work with Production management and Quality Assurance to provide feedback of any defects or Vendor related quality issues.
• Be in direct contact with Purchasing Agents and Vendors on all Quality related issues.
• Keep accurate record of all items rejected to the bond room and process items for their return.
• Perform all Technical testing of components and raw materials: Ash weight, Melt flow, Urethane testing, Shock test (globes), color opacity/color DE, Drain leak, Lid pull, and functionality.
• Supports and maintains a safe workplace, including observing all safety rules.
• Maintains department equipment in proper working conditions.
• Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions presented in English.
• All other projects and duties as assigned by management.
Training, Skills and Experience Requirements:
• Be able to use the equipment needed to perform all testing: Muffle furnace, Melt indexer, Color Spectrophotometer, Globe furnace, lid pull apparatus, urethane mixer.
• Have working knowledge of all precise measurement tooling: Calipers, micrometers, Go, NOGO gages, pin gages, plug gages, microscopes, candle power, flow meter, etc.
• General proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Experience in SAP QM module including but not limited to:
o QE51N Quality work list- Entering in Data for the removal of quality inspections.
o Q-Block - Putting Quality Hold on product in Warehouse
o Material Master- Finding specs used by purchasing.
o Use Mini-tab for Basic Statistical Analysis

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. However, this position interfaces daily with Coleman employees and contingent workforce employees.
