Job Description:
Quality Assurance Technician performs inspections, testing, and sampling activities to ensure that material/products comply with required specifications, drawings/print, and other applicable quality requirements. Quality Assurance Technician assists co-workers, Quality Engineers, and other departments with problem resolution.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance Technician audits and monitors requirements per the company policies and procedures.
- Performs first article, in-process, incoming, outside processing, and final inspections.
- Initiate and generate Non-Conformance reports (NCRs) as required.
- Inputs and performs trending of key inspection process metrics as required.
- Documents and reports inspection findings and results and monitors corrective actions to findings.
- Performs mechanical, physical, and visual inspection and testing of materials/products, components, sub-assemblies, and finished products per specification requirements.
- Read and interpret specifications and part drawings/prints.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance are performed on inspection, measuring, and testing equipment.
- Perform product identification and traceability activities, as required.
- Work with other company personnel to resolve inspection, measuring, and testing questions.
- Train staff in quality assurance techniques, as needed.
- Document information on the computer in various databases and other internal programs.
- Conduct various tests and quality checks on finished products to ensure that products are compliant with applicable requirements.
- Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
- Notifies the applicable supervisor when inspection results exceed acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are noted.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Prefer at least one year of experience with quality inspection activities and/or machining experience including the use of metrology hand tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gages, etc.); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications:
- Must be proficient and have skills in basic metrology.
- Must be proficient and capable of reading & understanding prints/drawings and specifications.
- Must understand and be capable of performing traceability processes.
- Must understand the fundamentals of quality management systems documentation.
- Must be capable of reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Other notable skills considered to be a plus:
- CMM experience and knowledge.
- NDT (Nondestructive Testing) experience with UT, PT, MT, & LT.
- Knowledge of Warranty cost reduction processes.
- Supplier quality improvement processes.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts.
- Gauge calibration knowledge.
- Gauge R & R knowledge.
- ISO auditor experience.
- Sense of urgency.
- Attention to Detail.
