Food Safety Quality Assurance Tech
Job Description: The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Tech will assist the FSQA Supervisor in developing, monitoring, and documenting the Food Safety and Quality System.
Classification: Full-time, no direct reports
Team: Operations
Shift: Monday – Thursday, 1:00 pm to 9 pm
Pay: $17 - $20 DOE

Essential Functions:
- Carry out monitoring and verification activities in accordance with written policies and procedures.
- Sensory analysis
- Understand and implement the environmental monitoring program
- Perform Internal Auditing Activities.
- Participate in 3rd party audits.
- Assist the QA Supervisor with customer complaint investigations.
- Assist the Production Manager in production line activities as needed
- Assists in special projects as needed
- Document and track product hold and release
- Perform in-house gluten testing using aseptic sampling methods
- Understand and implement root cause analysis for corrective actions
- Attend meetings and conduct training when applicable
- Collect and submit samples to 3rd party laboratories
- Update and manage all 3rd party websites
- Work with suppliers and vendors for ingredients, COAs, and certification documents
Competencies:
- Excellent critical thinking and time management skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety regulations, FDA Regulations, FSMA, and industry and market trends.
- Good people skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent with office programs. Word, excel, outlook, etc. High sense of urgency and ability to work self-directed and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work occasional overtime and be willing to have a flexible schedule.

Work Environment:
Manufacturing at ambient temperature. The warehouse is ambient with a cooler ≤41F and freezer ≤0F.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Core work hours are 8 hours (1:00 pm to 9:30 pm), Monday through Thursday. Friday 9 - 5:30 pm.
Education and Previous Work Experience:
- Degree or working toward a degree in food science or other related field.
- In place of degree; at least 1 year Food Safety/QA experience at a food processing plant.
Essential Food Safety Responsibilities:
- Assist the Quality Assurance Supervisor in ensuring compliance with Food Safety regulations.
- Assists the Quality Assurance Supervisor with the implementation of operational plans, policies, procedures, and strategies to improve and maintain efficiency and effectiveness for the Food Safety Team.
- Assist the Quality Assurance Supervisor with documentation and assist in implementing corrective actions as directed.
