Opportunity
This position is responsible for Quality system and leads Hattiesburg’s Engine Quality Systems and team to achieve low defect levels, low warranty claim rates, high customer satisfaction, and compliance with all relevant government guidelines.
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage Engines Quality Department’s staff. Focus on keeping them engaged and developing their skills so they can successfully achieve both their assigned business goals and their own career goals.
- Responsible for driving resolution to issues identified through the analysis of quality metrics, including incidents caused by defective purchased material.
- Lead the analysis of scrap and rework costs, warranty claims, and audit failures.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Support groups to develop and drive plans to reduce process variation.
- Respond promptly to Corrective Action Requests (from customers or internal) and Field Complaints ensuring that the true root cause is found using a disciplined problem-solving method and instituting both corrective and preventive action.
- Maintain world-class quality systems modeled after ISO 9001:2015. Drive standardization and continuous improvement utilizing the Kohler Quality Management System (KQMS).
- Responsible for definition and execution of non-conforming material containment processes (deviations, screen stocks, product holds, etc.)
- Makes site visits to customers and suppliers to analyze quality issues as required.
- Ensure adherence to applicable product compliance requirements including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, California Code of Regulations and California Health and Safety Code.
Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial/Mechanical Technology from an ABET accredited school preferred, or Bachelor’s degree in Science or Business Administration with extensive quality experience in a technical and complex manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a quality function.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership and direct people management experience in a manufacturing environment or operations.
- Certification in ASQ as a Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Reliability Engineer preferred.
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC and DOE.
- Demonstrated awareness of, standards and proper adherence to standards required for worldwide quality.
- Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including database development.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment or engineering organization.
- Experience performing quality assurance, program management and reliability functions.

The salary range for this position is $98,900 - $125,600. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
