TG (Toyoda Gosei) Fluid Systems is a manufacturing company in Brighton Michigan looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team.
Job Summary:
Strengthen Quality systems and drive continuous improvement that positively impact systems and products manufactured. Analyze defective products for the purpose of determining preliminary root cause in order to drive effective correction actions. Determine failure modes and appropriate short term and permanent corrective actions. Lead cross functional teams through problem resolution.
Core competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Education:
- Understanding of IATF quality systems and processes within department to ensure company and customer standards are met
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all team members and external parties
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of JDE, FileHold and ADP software packages desired
- Proper handling of confidential and sensitive information
- Must be result-driven
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Minimum of 5+ years in a Quality Engineer ore related position
- Strong time management and ability to prioritize
- Ability to follow through and close out projects and tasks in a timely manner
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), 8D, non-conformance reporting, five whys, fishbone diagrams, etc.
- Knowledge of defects in safety-critical parts
Major Accountabilities:
- Must demonstrate behaviors that support TGFS’ mission, vision, and core values
- Support Hoshin process for department annually
- Ensure safety and quality are at or above company standards
- Work with all departments and maintain communication among various groups
- Support TG policies and procedure adherence
- Ensure training requirements are met on-time
- Follow Stop, Call, Wait (SCW)
- Lead product containment of PAs
- Interact with customers and suppliers to lead resolution of quality issues
- Update and monitor quality metrics and trends
- Prioritize IATF compliance activities when needed
- Support quality sorting with internal and external parties
- Monitor data output from quality sorts
- Support man/method training
- Conduct product training for quality personnel and team leaders
- Complete layered audits in a timely manner; follow up on findings as necessary
- Support KOI and coordinate follow up on results when needed
- Lead kaizen activities to reduce IPPM-weekly
- Coordinate Supplier Notice Change Request (SNCR)
- Coordinate International Material Data System (IMDS)
- Complete supplier validations annually and as needed
- Support ECN management & tracking
- Coordinate product containment for finished goods
- Perform effective management of hold cage and non-conforming materials
- Any additional duties as assigned by manager
Working Conditions:
- 75% office, 25% plant floor.
- Must work scheduled hours, including weekends and overtime as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.
Safety & PPE Requirements on the plant floor:
- Glasses required in production areas
- Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes required
- Hair reaching shoulder length must be secured behind head in production areas
