Job Summary: Reporting to the Quality Manager, plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties:
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Acts as “Voice of the Customer” in all situations to guide Linamar to comply with expectations.
· Duty and authority to stop production when nonconforming situations are identified.
· Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
· Performs Quality Engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
· Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
· Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
· Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
· Follows customer and internal standards to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities, maintains tracking of and presents status of plant open incidents.
· Ensures customer and internal quality processes and methods are followed in all aspects of manufacturing.
· Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
· Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
· Prepares and presents technical, program and quality incident information to team members, management and customers when needed.
· May direct, train, coach, mentor and guide technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities, including quality techs, sort companies and engineering staff.
· Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality standards.
· Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality standards.
· Design and implement gage plans and inspection instructions for product quality assurance.
· Work with gage suppliers to develop and design new gage methods, variable or attribute for product measurements. Order and approve gaging systems with a clear understanding of in-process or in-line auto gaging.
· Manage all facets of customer PPAPs. Define, apply analyze and distribute results of customer/supplier measures; escalate internally and externally when appropriate.
· Development, implement and maintain control plans; participate in the development of APQP and FMEA documentation and implementation.
· All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:
· BS degree in engineering or related field or equivalent education/work experience.
· At least five years of prior experience in in quality control, preferably in a CNC machining environment.
· Internal Auditor Certification (IATF, ISO) strongly preferred.
· Must be proficient in GR&R studies, CMM, SPC, GD&T, APQP, FMEA and PPAP.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact and communicate at all levels of organization, and with customer engineering and/or management.
· Ability to effectively apply problem solving / continuous improvement principles and techniques to quality and manufacturing principles.
· Strong manufacturing background with focus on metal removing process.
· Strong organizational skills, electronic and paper.
· Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy. Customer focus – need to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
· Practical knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection and Quality Engineering techniques, procedures, equipment, theories and principles.
Work Environment: The job works in conditions with constant exposure (67% or more) to noise, odors, dust, drafts, and chemicals.
Physical Requirements:
Carrying, pushing, or pulling of heavy objects (up to 30 lbs.) is regularly necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Full Time, 40 hours per week or more with weekend hours as needed.
