Salary Range: $47.77 - $65.84

Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.

Position Summary:

  • This position reports to the Director of Human Resources with secondary oversight by the Chief Nursing Officer.  
  • Collaborates with other clinical managers to advance Employee Health and safety.
  • Actively manages all medical leaves of absence, applying a case management approach to such leaves

Position Duties/Responsibility:

  • Assists other human resources staff members by managing the clinical aspects of the employee onboarding process (i.e., pre-employment physical, lab/TB testing, etc.).
  • Is a liaison between the occupational medicine, infection control and HR departments.
  • Administers all medical leaves of absence, applying a case management approach to each.
  • Works with workers’ compensation third-party administrator to manage lost-time cases, from first report of injury/illness through return-to-work.
  • Coordinates the tuberculosis-screening program for LVMC.
  • Assists in the assurance of compliance with all regulations including OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and requirements for CMS accreditation, as well as with other applicable state and federal laws.
  • Administers the fit respiratory protection program for LVMC in partnership with the cardiopulmonary department staff.
  • Administers all employee immunization programs including, but not limited to Hepatitis B, Varicella, MMR, TDaP, Influenza, and COVID to ensure compliance and promote Employee Health and patient safety, in accordance CDC recommendations, OSHA, and Cal/OSHA, as well as with other applicable state and federal laws.
  • Works with other clinical departments to assure USP-800 surveillance and compliance activities.
  • Coordinates the care of employees involved in potential infectious disease exposures, including exposures involving blood-borne pathogens.
  • Ensures proper notification, treatment, and reporting of work-related exposures and collaborates with appropriate resources to determine and implement corrective actions.
  • Assists in coordination of treatment for employees with work-related injuries and illnesses in compliance with the California Labor Code, as well as other applicable state and federal laws.
  • Responsible for maintaining Employee Health records and workers’ compensation, as required by State and Federal regulations.
  • Attends, participates, and represents Employee Health and Safety on various committees, task forces, and projects.
  • Represent Employee Health/safety issues on the LVMC Core Safety Committee.
  • May require irregular hours, including weekends.
  • Other duties assigned by Director of HR and/or CNO.

Essential Functions:

  • Must carry out duties with maturity, sensitivity and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Position Qualifications:

  • Education:     Associate degree (bachelor’s degree preferred) in nursing.  Public Health Nurse and/or occupational Health Nurse experience highly desired.
  • Experience:   Any combination of work experience, education and/or training which substantially demonstrates the ability to fulfill the requirements of the position.
  • Certifications: Current and clear California registered nurse licenseBLS.
  • Skills/Ability: Excellent verbal, written and public communication skills.  Exhibits the ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy, exercises good judgment, demonstrates initiative, emotional stability, tact and poise.
