Work Arrangement : This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac Stamping on a full-time basis.
Must be flexible to support off-shifts.
The Role: In this role, you will represent Pontiac Stamping on customer site, ensuring effective monitoring of issues of quality, logistics and engineering changes. You will work directly with the customer, promptly addressing their needs, claims or requirements and guaranteeing transparent communication between the manufacturing plant and the customer plant to achieve an efficient and timely response.
The Quality Engineer Assembly Liaison will also collaborate across all manufacturing subject areas within Pontiac Stamping to drive common and standardized manufacturing quality system requirements, procedures, metrics, and standard methodologies. This role is expanded to include serving as a backup/vacation replacement for group leaders (production, maintenance, material) ensuring seamless operations and leadership across different functions within the organization.
What You’ll Do:
- Travel to various plants or warehouses (up to 50% of the time, primarily local) to address open topics. Some travel outside the normal work span may be required.
- Communicate daily strategic positions in the customer plant to provide feedback on opportunities for product improvement
- Follow-up on problem analysis and implementation of break points
- Work towards containment by participating in and leading material sorts in warehouses and manufacturing plants.
- Strong understanding of quality problem-solving tools and methodologies
- Develop and maintain positive customer/supplier and network relationships
- Coach, teach and audit elements of GM Quality Manual and Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) Built in Quality (BIQ) Principles and Elements
- Supervise a group hourly unionized personnel on substitute basis.
- Engage in problem solving, inspection, quality control, quality assurance and GM Built-in-Quality activities.
- Lead projects as requested from Quality Manager/Supervisor.
- Provide direct, honest, constructive feedback to Plant Staffs / Executive Leadership in a professional manner.
- Support Launch of new products in the plant when applicable
- Review and create standardized work documentation for all departments when required utilizing Product Quality Standards.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or other related technical discipline or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing
- High level of analytical and decision-making abilities where problems are unusual and difficult
- Comprehension of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, procedures, tooling, equipment, and facilities
- Comprehension of probability, statistical quality control and design of experiments.
- Ability to investigate quality problems and to apply sound technical judgment to develop potential solutions.
- Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization
