Danfoss Newburn is looking for a Quality Engineer to join a growing team. The Quality Engineer is responsible for improving and assuring quality in all products and various services of the facility by driving the day-to-day quality system activities and deployment of the Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO9001/IATF16949. The position provides ongoing daily support to the manufacturing floor and customer support.
This is an ITAR location.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Identifies, evaluates, and implements corrective action necessary to resolve quality issues in the plant. Coordinates and participates in 8D problem-solving teams and facilitates identification of root causes. Ensures implementation and follow-through of permanent corrective action.
- Identifies/ leads improvement opportunities and consults with plant management on alternatives for improving operation efficiency/ effectiveness and product quality.
- Participates in Pro Launch sessions to improve quality and processing before production begins.
- Performs, organizes, and reports all PPAP/FAI testing elements and PFMEA documentation. Monitors data collection at critical operations and ensures appropriate use of data collected. Provides internal/ external statistical reports as needed.
- Responsible for ISO certification documentation, overseeing procedure updates, and ensuring accurate records. Educates and instructs plant personnel in quality assurance procedures and ensures adherence through an extensive audit program.
- Ensures operation of all Laboratory measuring and data collection equipment through calibration/preventive maintenance program and in-house repair/replacement. Able to perform all lab duties; functions as a backup for lab technician.
- Monitor customer websites (WISPER) and drive customer satisfaction through proactive visits.
The ideal candidate possesses these skills:
- Experience in Quality in a manufacturing environment with strong knowledge of international quality standards, lean manufacturing, statistical methods, blueprint reading, and continuous improvement tools such as FMEA, and DOE.
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma, 8D Problem Solving, Quality Management System standards, Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, and First Article Inspection.
- ASQ certifications are preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification desired.
- Proven project management, planning, and problem-solving abilities required.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office required knowledge of MFG Pro a plus.
- The position will require excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills to lead and train diverse teams.
