Dave Wheatley Enterprises, Inc. (DWE) is a defense contractor and an ISO certified manufacturer of plastic injection molded parts located in Belcamp, Maryland. DWE offers services for consumer, commercial, electronics, medical, aerospace, defense, and other industries.
Job purpose
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for conducting testing procedures during manufacturing processes to ensure that products comply with company set quality standards. Incumbent will inspect incoming materials, in process components, and finished products to ensure adherence to company quality standards and customer specifications. Performs record keeping of all work inspected in accordance with company procedures and communicates appropriately to the Quality Control Manager on a regular basis. Work schedule: Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 12:30 am.
Duties and responsibilities
- Identify defects/non-conformance and generate appropriate reports
- Inspects parts for start-up on next product in molding department according to drawings/ specifications, records data and approves continued production.
- Inspects products per sampling plan and drawing, records data, and approves production for shipment.
- Maintains & retains records of products in appropriate storage areas
- Performs first article inspection of parts according to drawings.
- Creates and / or updates inspection forms for new or revised drawings.
- Assist with receipt inspection of incoming parts and resins.
- Maintains SPC charts in appropriate storage areas
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required. Some college level courses preferred in manufacturing processes, engineering or total quality management.
- Previous manufacturing quality experience is required
- High level attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret basic drawings and tolerances.
- Able to use hand measurement tools, such as calipers, indicators, and gauges
- Able to sit, stand, and walk through the manufacturing floor

Working conditions
The physical environment requires the employee to work inside. There is extensive standing, sitting, lifting, and walking. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials
