The position is responsible for supervising the Quality Control team and program as well as the food safety policies and procedures of all the fruit that is received. Responsibilities include monitoring quality and inventory rotation, conducting inspections and checking outbound orders. Making sure they comply with the Dole QA standards. Supervising both Dole and third party QC teams and managing the resolution of quality and food safety issues.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Supervise and inspect fruit that arrives on location.
- Make decisions based on the analysis of the fruit, applying basic knowledge of post-harvest and horticulture.
- Ability to utilize discretion, answer questions and make decisions in the absence of the Quality Control Manager.
- Work directly with the sourcing, sales, and operations team to make decisions and answer questions regarding the fruit or any segregation of the fruit.
- Supervise repack operation at offside locations as needed.
- Commodity inspection of table grapes, stone fruit, berries and citrus.
- Must willing to travel to different regions is the US & Canada as needed.
- Analyze data regarding fruit inspections, such as size and maturity of fruit, percentage of defects, etc.
- Assist and support with special projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONS
Internal: Interact with Quality Control, Food Safety, Sourcing, Sales, and Operations.
External: Interact with Growers, Vendors, and other personnel.
WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT
- Ability to work various hours and days as needed, more than 40 hours per week including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Up to 33% of time. Mostly West Coast; Portland, Oregon, British Columbia, Los Angeles, Bakersfield.
