Quality Supervisor reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for and has the authority to oversee and / or direct all Quality Control functions throughout the processes, from audit, first article inspection, in-process, final inspections and provide feedback to the Quality Manager. The supervisor provides training, chart inspection data, and participates in production & quality meetings. May have other duties as assigned by manager.
Duties and responsibilities
- Supervise activities of each inspector throughout the workday including monitoring to ensure subordinates adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Monitors employees time and attendance and is responsible for review and approval of automated timecards.
- Responsible for monitoring ESD smocks in required areas and testing of ESD straps.
- Supervise the activities of all areas of inspection including first article production, in-process, final inspection, and final review of the Traveler.
- Indirectly responsible for overseeing, training, and re-training Receiving Inspection, review of returns, and inspectors in the stockroom.
- Supervise all inspectors on day and or swing shift providing training to all personnel within the department.
- Setting inspection priorities and scheduling shipment priorities with production.
- Indirectly supervises the activities of the Document Control department from Traveler release, verifying documents, and preparing folders for production and inspection.
- Monitors other activities such as entering documents/BOM into the Manex computerized system, preparing procedures, flowcharts and creating new documents.
- May assist in training to all personnel within the department.
- Provide technical support to production & inspection.
- Review, train and redline procedures for update and submit to the Quality Manager.
- Interact with personnel in all departments and with Customers, offering support such as participating in new product meetings, and writing First Article
- Reports, participates in surveys, reports on quality issues, verifies quality clauses and customer requirements per documentation.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Proficient in computer skills.
- Lead or Supervisor background in Quality Assurance and Production environment.
- Familiar with documentation & procedures in a company dedicated to Contract manufacturing of Prototypes, low volume, mixed technology including Turn-key and Consigned operations.
- IPC or J-STD training required. Trainer certification to either standard is a plus.
- Requires college level training or equivalent plus 3-5 years related experience as a Quality Lead/Supervisor in an electronics assembly company.
- Familiar with contract manufacturing company operations and procedures.
- Creative and effective in the ability to resolve complex problems.
- Exercises independent judgment and experience in order to select methods, techniques and evaluative criteria for obtaining results.
