Job Title:Quality Control Manager
Reports To: General Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes – Department Leader
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the General Manager oversees efficient production operations by planning, leading and implementing quality assurance (QA) programs. Develops internal tools to ensure quality products are manufactured and decreases scrap or non-conforming products.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Hires and trains QA staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Collects and evaluates production samples, ensuring that materials and products meet acceptable quality and integrity standards.
- Coordinates employee efforts to ensure efficient production and manufacturing lines.
- Facilitates communication among production departments and management.
- Drafts and implements policies and procedures to improve the manufacturing process and the quality of goods produced.
- Drafts and maintains logs, records, and other documentation of testing procedures, methodologies, and criteria.
- Maintains records of test results, defects identified, and other key metrics related to Quality Control.
- Analyzes Quality Control test results and offers feedback and interpretations of those results to production management or staff.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and technological advances in the applicable industry and in the Quality Control field.
- Drafts and maintains standard operating procedures, manuals, and documentation for the manufacturing and QA processes.
- Monitors and periodically reports on production quality, nonconformance, trends, and underlying causes of defects in products or processes.
- Ceases production when serious product defects or risks arise.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires predominately sedentary work such as sitting at a desk and computer for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours at a time.
- Work is performed in an office setting with limited exposure to loud noises, odors, extreme variances in temperature or other environmental factors.
- Requires occasional exposure to manufacturing plant irritants such as loud noises, fumes, exhaust or other environmental factors.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times without assistance.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related industrial, scientific, or business field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least three years of related experience in manufacturing and production required.
