Atlas Web Technologies ®is seeking aQuality Control/EHS Managerfor theSylacauga, ALfacility.
This position Is responsible for driving continuous improvement efforts through standardized work and analysis of manufacturing processes to improve cost, grow productivity, and reduce quality-related issues for our customers. This position supervises Quality Lab Technicians.
Quality Control/EHS ManagerPrimary Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe work environment through strict adherence to Atlas' safety policies and procedures. Drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety and housekeeping. Know and communicate safety messages with a focus on developing an injury culture.
- Lead, direct, manage, and counsel Quality Technicians to ensure the products produced in the facility meet the required specifications.
- Recruit, interview, and select staff with the right technical abilities and skills. Ensure the workforce is trained in their respective job duties.
- Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in product development projects.
- Responsible for the testing of raw materials (Latex, glassmat, etc.) and all finished products. This also includes the disposal of any waste or defective products.
- Responsible for ensuring the audit of production processes at each line operator station and the input of computer data. This includes the input of downtime data as well as the input of Raw Material Receivers for the Purchasing System.
- Serve as subject matter expert on EHS matters, including employee safety, environmental protection, property protection, and process safety in the manufacturing environment.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of new OSHA, EPA and/or DOT laws, regulations and industry standards.
- Ensure required records, permits, and reports are maintained and prepared according to guidelines established by local, state and federal agencies.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct all monthly environmental and OSHA-required safety training.
- Maintain safety programs with the help of the Corporate Safety Manager.
- Responsible for processing and analyzing material claims and customer complaints.
- Wide variety of supplier and customer reports.
- Responsible for all Quality Lab equipment, calibrations, and processes.
- Participate in the development, understanding, and review of all position Job Safety Analysis (JSA's)
- Maintains contact with company personnel at all levels including Hourly, Management, sales,customers, and vendors
- Overnight travel to customers and suppliers as necessary.
Quality Control/EHS ManagerExperience
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in quality or safety manufacturing environment.
- Professional safety certification highly desirable.
Quality Control/EHS ManagerKnowledge, Skills Abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, includes MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including fluency in English required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, government regulations; and present information and effectively communicate with groups of managers, customers, employees and/or general public.
- Training and group presentation experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across plant and functional organizations.
- Provides relevant and timely information in a clear manner.
- Self-motivated with ability to prioritize goals and objectives with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local building codes and safety regulations is required.
Quality Control/EHS ManagerEducation, Licenses Certifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in related field from a 4-year college or university preferred.
Quality Control/EHS Manager Physical Demands
- Ability to work an average of 40 hours per week. Extended hours required as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to frequently push, pull, grip, reach, feel, squat, and bend.
- Must be able to occasionally climb and descend stairs safely.
- Must be able to work at heights.
- Must be willing and able to work on powered equipment (for example a lift truck or other heavy equipment).
