About Us: We are a dynamic and growing food manufacturing company located in Opelika, AL, committed to producing high-quality products while ensuring the utmost standards in Food Safety and quality. As part of our expansion, we are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an Assistant Food Safety & Quality Manager.
Position Overview: As the Assistant Food Safety & Quality Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our quality standards. This is a 2-shift plant operating 24 hours per day, and we are looking for an individual with experience in a similar environment, particularly in food manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and manage the quality performance of Quality Technicians.
- Enhance and review supplier programs to ensure quality, Food Safety, and consistency.
- Conduct facility audits, product mock recovery, administer non-conformance products, and participate in operations testing of new and/or modified products.
- Assist Product Development in specification development, enhancement, and revisions.
- Fill in and perform all the responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Manager in their absence.
- Provide technical support to Product Development and Operations in process capabilities, Quality Assurance standards, quality procedures, Food Safety, and food security requirements.
- Participate in cross-functional teams as a Quality Assurance liaison.
- Support and provide assistance in the implementation of comprehensive ingredients and packaging materials receiving, evaluation, and tracking programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, or Meat Science.
- 3-5 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Food Safety, HACCP, and SSOPs.
- Previous experience in a 24 hour plant environment.
