When completed, the bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. The project includes a bridge and border crossing spanning the Detroit River and connecting Detroit, Michigan, U.S., and Windsor, Ontario, Canada, by linking Interstate 75 and Interstate 96 in Michigan with the new extension of Highway 401 (Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway) in Ontario. The scope also includes building new, state-of-the-art ports of entry on both the U.S. and Canadian sides of the Detroit River as well as improvements to existing infrastructure in both Michigan and Ontario.
This position responsible within the QA group for assuring material being incorporated into the project are approved, sampled and tested to meets applicable specifications and Material Acceptance Request (MAR) process. The Material QA/QC Coordinator will provide evaluation of materials documentation prior to incorporation into the project work when required as per the PA.
The position will record this evaluation also in the MAR form in the Quality section. He or she is assisted by a staff of QC Field Inspectors and a Document Clerk
- Evaluation of materials including: Concrete mix designs, Paving materials, Structural and architectural metals, Non-metallic, ceramic and cementitious, materials, Soils and aggregates and other Building materials.
- Coordinating with QA Staff for sampling and testing activities.
- Developing materials traceability program.
- Review and become familiar with the project technical requirements such as the prime contract, applicable codes, standards, and specifications
- Monitor/inspect project and construction execution by regular surveillance, inspection and/or formal planned audits as directed
- Assist, as directed by the Site Quality Manager or supervisor to review and assess the construction quality activities (both Contract Management and self-perform) to ensure that they comply with project requirements
- Submit statistical information to Site Quality Manager for weekly or monthly reporting purposes
- Ensure that documentation is being completed, signed off, and compiled as the work progresses so as to support turnover and record retention activities at the project site
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines

Basic Job Requirements
- Accredited two (2) or three (3) year Technical or Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent in applicable field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years if there is no accreditation; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
