ENGIE Distributed Solar and Storage (an ENGIE North America company) is looking for a PhotoVoltaic (PV) Designer I to join our engineering and project delivery team. As a PV Designer for ENGIE North America (ENA), you will work within the Distributed Solar and Storage Engineering & Delivery team and be responsible for designing and finalizing design layouts and production modeling of rooftop solar PV installations throughout the USA. You will collaborate with various departments on requests to develop, design, and optimize the projects.
This position will sit in Chicago, IL and will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager, Engineering & Delivery. This position is open to a hybrid scheduled of both in-office and work-from-home days.
What you'll do:
- Originate and review ground mount, rooftop, and carport PV layouts
- Maintain drafting processes and support continuous improvement of drawing standards across Engineering team
- Support development and origination team in RFP engineering work
- Perform site assessment and surveying of rooftop for design development; including the use of drones for data capture
- Apply building and fire codes to designs in a wide range of jurisdictions
- Carries out other duties as assigned
What you bring:
- Associate's degree in technical/science field
- Entry level position in solar PV industry
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or willingness to master
- Flexible attitude and technically proficient
- Entrepreneurial mindset
- Contributes to companywide strategy
- Communicates effectively (written and verbal)
- Ability to acquire FAA drone pilot license and establish proficiency in the company drone program
- Takes ownership of projects
- Develops leadership skills
- Must hold a valid driver's license
- Travel required (up to 25%)
