Axis Solar is an experienced installer of residential and commercial solar systems in Texas. With locations across the State, we are in a period of rapid growth and seeking to add additional exceptional talent to our ranks.
We are seeking a Director of PV Design and Engineering to provide support to our project operations. The successful candidate will work directly with our Sales and Project Management Team to ensure prompt project designs, engineering, and communications with Jurisdictions and Utilities, and assist in the preparation of project documentation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Management of the entire Design and Engineering process, resources, and team leadership.
• Work cross-functionally to drive design optimization and identify project risks and mitigations.
• Identify and address any design issues promptly, providing innovative solutions to ensure project success.
• Contribute to process development and initiatives aimed at furthering modeling team capabilities and accuracy.
• Track and manage the workflow of the solar modeling team and proactively work with internal stakeholders to manage their expectations.
• Offer technical expertise and support to design team members, providing guidance on design-related matters.
• Design Residential, Commercial and Energy Storage systems to Axis Solar guidelines.
• Review and/or develop site assessment data for final system design, including shading, structural and electrical analysis.
• Create, review and modify drawing sets in AutoCAD and custom software tools.
• Update all plan sets to "As-builts to be shared with the customer.
• Perform Engineering Calculations and consolidate BOM.
• Research, document, and comply with local and national code requirements in project jurisdictions.
• Understand all PV equipment components and provide technical support.
• Prompt response to emails and phone calls.
• Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering, Physics, Electrical, or similar
• PE license or applicant
• Experience building and managing an engineering team.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD software
• Familiar with NEC and other design standards
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF Pro Suite
• Hands on experience in solar energy modeling and optimization.
• Knowledge of data sources, system loss factors, and competency in modeling tools for utility-scale PV System production assessments
• NABCEP certification
• Familiarity with battery energy storage systems is plus.
